FAQ
What clients usually ask
Tauri or Flutter Desktop — which is better?+
Tauri for lean apps with web UI (~15 MB). Flutter Desktop if you want to build mobile too (codebase sharing).
Is it faster than Electron?+
Tauri yes — significantly (10-15 MB instead of 100+ MB, lower RAM usage). Flutter Desktop similarly good.
Auto-update — how does it work?+
App checks against an update server on launch (e.g. your Hetzner VPS), downloads new version, installs on restart.
Code signing — what does that cost?+
macOS: 99 USD/year Apple Developer Account. Windows: ~300 EUR/year for EV cert (optional, for "no SmartScreen warning").
Linux — which distros are supported?+
Standard: Ubuntu/Debian (.deb), Fedora/RHEL (.rpm), AppImage (universal). Snap/Flatpak as add-on.
What about mobile too?+
With Flutter Desktop: same codebase mobile-capable, but mobile adaptation as extra package (~1900 EUR).
