How we run it ourselves
Separate networks for production and testing at Hetzner in Germany, alerts on two channels, backups with regularly rehearsed restores.
Running software means running the machines underneath it. We set servers up, harden them, monitor them, and make sure a restore isn't rehearsed for the first time on the day it's needed.

A detector that stays silent looks like calm. So every monitoring setup includes a test that the alert path really works — and a second channel in case the first one fails.
