Class Progress

The class detail page has a Progress tab holding all reports for the class: aggregated figures, a per-student overview and homework analysis.

Aggregated class figures

At the top you see the key figures for the whole class:

Figure Description
Students active today How many of your students have been in the Lab today?
Tasks passed (total) Sum across all students
Tasks passed (class average) Average per student
Success rate Of all validation attempts in this class, how many succeeded?

The figures update in real time -- you can follow progress live during a lesson.

Per student

A table per student shows:

Column Meaning
Name As entered
Last activity Relative ("yesterday", "2 hours ago")
Tasks passed Across every module the student has worked on
Active homework How many open assignments
Streak (days) Consecutive days with at least one validation

Sortable by every column (click the column heading).

Detail view of a student

Clicking a student name opens a detail view with:

  • Module view -- per module: how many tasks are open/passed/failed
  • Activity heatmap (30 days) -- when the student was active
  • Recent validations -- the last 10 attempts with result (passed/failed) and timestamp
  • Session history -- when sessions were started, in which modules, and how they ended (regular/aborted)

This shows quickly where someone is stuck -- a student with many failed attempts on the same task may need personal support.

Homework analysis

The Homework tab on the class page shows, for every past and active assignment:

  • How many students have completed it? (e.g. "18 of 25")
  • How many are still working on it?
  • How many have not started?

Click an assignment to open a detail table listing every student with their individual status (see Homework → Analysis).

What you cannot see

  • The exact contents of student VMs -- you do not see which commands students typed in the terminal. Only the results of the validations are visible.
  • Login times or IP addresses -- this is GDPR-relevant and is not broken out for the teacher view.
  • Private messages or feedback -- when students send feedback from the Lab, it goes to Techlogia, not to you.

Exporting reports

There is currently no data export at class level directly in the teacher interface. If you need, say, a PDF overview for reports or conferences:

  • Screenshots of the detail views are usually enough
  • If you need structured data: send a request to info@techlogia.de

Students can produce their own data export (GDPR Art. 15, JSON format). If a student wants to share their data with you, that is the route.

Frequently asked questions

"I can see that a student cheated (e.g. copied solutions)"

The Lab does not detect this automatically. If something strikes you as odd:

  • Discuss the task directly with the student (what did they do and when, can they explain it)
  • If you suspect systematic manipulation: send feedback to Techlogia -- the VM logs show what actually happened and can be reviewed if needed.

"A student has been inactive for 3 weeks -- why?"

Possible reasons:

  • The account was deleted (GDPR self-service)
  • The student forgot their password and did not say anything
  • Other school-related reasons (illness, holiday)

You cannot see this directly in the Lab. Talk to the student or ask the school admin.

"How current are the figures?"

  • Validation-based figures (tasks passed, last activity): close to real time
  • Aggregated class figures: refreshed every few seconds
  • 30-day heatmap: aggregated once per hour

"Can I hand the class over to another teacher?"

Not directly in the interface at the moment. If a teacher leaves the school:

  • The school admin or Techlogia can transfer the class manually
  • Send a request to info@techlogia.de
